Dear Selection Team,
My name is Meena Kumar. I run a tailoring unit and lead a 20-member women’s self-help group in Ward 14, Sulur.
Two years ago the borewell in our street stopped working. Sixty families were fetching water from far away. I collected signatures from the street, went to the ward office four times and kept going back until it was repaired. It took six weeks. Nobody taught me how to do this. I learned by trying, and I also learned how much I do not know about budgets, rules and who is responsible for what.
The issue I understand best is drinking water and ration shop service in my ward. I have seen it every week for six years.
I am applying now because my group keeps asking me for help beyond what I know. I want to learn properly so that I can fix more problems, and teach others to do the same.
If I am selected, I will attend every session and finish what I start. I can travel to Coimbatore. I would like classes in Tamil.
