You do not need the usual advantages to begin. Here are direct answers to the questions we hear most often.
I have no political family.
You do not need one. The Centre is built for people whose public work can speak for them. Progress is based on published criteria, verified contribution and the ability to build trust—not family connections.
I am a woman and my family may object.
You can begin at a pace that works for you. Start with an open resource or information session, learn what participation involves, and make an informed decision. Our pathway for women addresses the practical barriers women often face in public life.
I am not a graduate.
A degree is not required. We value judgement, reliability, local knowledge and real work in your community. Learning materials are designed to be practical and usable, whatever your formal education.
I cannot leave work for a week.
You can start without taking time away from work. The Library is open at any time, and programme schedules are published before you apply. Choose an option that fits your availability and responsibilities.
Will this get me an election ticket?
No organisation can promise you a ticket. We help you become better prepared, build a credible public record and make your work visible. Party selection decisions remain with political parties.
Is this only for one political party?
No. The Centre focuses on democratic practice, ethical public leadership and campaign craft. You do not need to belong to a particular political party to learn or participate.

We keep the information needed to review your application, contact you and support your participation. Our privacy notice explains what is collected, why it is used and your choices.
